I survived Las Cruces!
:D Yay, I’m alive.
Anyways. We drove down there on Friday at 5 in the morning so we could make the practice rounds for BN, and it was super good! He jumped really well and I was so proud of him.
Then on Saturday we had dressage in the morning. Warm-up was amazing. Probably the best dressage we’ve ever done, but then of course I fucked up during the actual test and let him hollow out in his back and he didn’t have that lovely, powerful trot he gets sometimes. So we got mostly 6s :/ although, in my defense, the judge had pretty high expectations… I ended up with like a 47.
Then we had Stadium in the afternoon. Warm-up was again really really good. Then during the actual course, he landed pretty strong so I really had to sit back and get him to come back to me, and he ended up going pretty fast around, but it was my fault, because I didn’t really enforce him to go at my pace. Anyways, it was pretty good, except for one 5-stride line where he saved my ass and added a stride.
Then this morning was Cross-Country. Warm-up was pretty good, we went over some novice/training level logs and they were good, except I leaned before some of them. Then when we were walking to the start box he got really nervous all of a sudden, what with all the excitement and shouting people, so it took a little while to get him in there. Then we did the course and it was soooo much fun. It’s a smallish course, but it was amazing! He came back to me soso well after every jump and he was great through the water. My pony boy is so good.
So, my trainer said we might do one more Beginner Novice because of how nervous he was at the beginning of XC, but then we’ll do a few novices this summer and then we might get to do training by fall. :O I am so excited!!!
:) Yeah, so I’ll post pictures once the show photographer puts them up on her website (probably within the next 2 days) so keep an eye out!
